Hi Tony, Thank you for your response. I have Windows Server SP2 ( 32-bit) that was used to create the forest and DC. I am adding a new server with Windows Server 2008R2. The easier way will be to add the server to the existing DC, but I am trying to add another DC to the existing forest. Running dcpromo.exe on the R2 server and trying to add a new DC to the existing forest produces the error to run adprep /forestprep. Ofcourse running adprep on the R2 server is not possible because this server is not a member of any domain yet. I may end up adding the server to the existing DC if I can not find a way to add a new DC to the forest. Appreciate your help in this matter. Thanks, Sari. HI, I think Tony's suggestion doesn't seem to work ' R2 is 64-bit only, so you will need to run adprep from a 64-bit machine. The machine doesn't have to be DC, just a member server in the domain.' See the output below. I have added 2008R2 as a memebr server in a existing 2008 SP2 forest then ran the forestprep command. But it didnt workout. D: support adprep>adprep.exe /forestprep Adprep cannot run on this platform because it is not an Active Directory Domain Controller. [Status/Consequence] Adprep stopped without making any changes.
